Jacqueline Cochran, cosmetics executive and world-famous aviatrix, was the product of obscure origins. Born Bessie Pittman, born 1906/1908/1910, in northwest Florida (sources differ on her birth year). The Pittmans were and impoverished family that moved from one town to another in search of work.
